Easy/moderate scramble on ridge from NMP (not as scary as it looks!). Route between the passes is exploratory & off-trail. Route finding required. Will be a full day, with steady progress and occasional stops for stellar wildflowers and great views. Currently rated as muddy and wet. Recommend that you bring extra water and food. PARKING: at the Cougar Creek skating rink.
One short (about ten steps) section through a rock face with some exposure. This is a glorious 3-km ridge walk for a comparatively small effort. The views are magnificent and we get to eat lunch with a view of Mount Smuts.
Hike up North Buller Pass then walk through the meadow connecting to South Buller Pass , some steep sections but no scrambling
Meeting place will be notified to group later. Option to visit Castle Jct store and Silverton Falls on way home.
This will be done at Guide's Pace. Please make sure you have bear spray, bug spray, sufficient water, lunch and snacks, and rain gear.
