Mine Tour

This is the Canmore Museum’s most popular perennial experience, led by renowned local storyteller and historian, Gerry Stephenson.

Take a guided summer stroll through Canmore’s coal mining past. Former head mine engineer Gerry Stephenson will tour guests to No. 1 and No. 2 mines (Canmore’s most productive) and reclaimed former strip mine – Quarry Lake. The tour will shed light on the life of a coal miner, the challenges of coal mining in Canmore, and how Gerry has used up 4 of his 9 lives.

Registration is required as these tours sell out! Register by calling the museum directly.

This tour date is a Fundraiser for the Canmore Community Cruisers. All travel between sites on this date will be done by bike!
