Notes:

Presented by Dr. Martin Tweeddale

Dr. Tweeddale will explore recent changes in our understanding of the nature and extent of palliative and end-of-life care and the benefits it provides.  He will go on to explore the implications of these changes for the delivery of palliative care, both locally and nationally, and will end with an outline of the opportunities and challenges involved in providing full-spectrum palliative care to all residents of the Bow Valley.

Dr. Tweeddale was an intensive care physician in Canada and the UK for 32 years, retiring in 2007. At the beginning of his career death and dying were issues not talked about until they had to be directly faced.  This was followed by a steadily evolving rethink of how these universal aspects of human life could best be discussed and managed.  In 2016 the Palliative Care Society of the Bow Valley was launched to develop a residential hospice in the Bow Valley and Dr. Tweeddale serves as the current Chair of the Board of Directors.

Coffee is available and discussion encouraged.  Donations are welcomed.
