The topic this year will be from British legal history:  The Trials of Oscar Wilde.  Wilde was a famous playwright (“The Importance of Being Earnest”), author and poet – and a celebrated Anglo Irish wit and bon vivant, put on trial for alleged homosexual behaviour.  A portion from the actual 1895 trials will be presented.  A number of intriguing legal issues arise for discussion.
