Grotto Canyon to waterfall and on to caves

Date/Time
Date(s) - Wed May 27 2026
10:00 am

Notes:

Hike in from the Grotto pond past the noisy Baymag plant but once in the canyon confines its whisper quiet and one may  observe some rock climbers and agent aboriginal wall paintings. The first bouldery part can easily be bypassed . There was still a 100 m long ice sheet as of May 12th but if the ice surface gets slushy one does not need grippers with good hiking- boots and- poles. The low running creek has to be crisscrossed several times. There is a small water  fall and some impressive overhanging cliffs- there is no water running past that point. Further on there are some caves up on the side hill. Depending on weather conditions we may extend the turnaround point for another km or so.
