Moonlight hike to “Rundleview Ridge”

Date/Time
Date(s) - Sun Jan 01 2023
4:30 pm

Notes:

Let’s do our traditional New Year’s moonlight hike!  The location is new because it appears that the Grassi Lakes Trail will not  be open.  Our destination will be Rundleview Ridge, aka Sunset Ridge. This year we are actually promised moonlight, with moonrise at 1:19 pm, moonset at 3:39 am, illumination of 80.1 %, and sunset at 4:45 pm.  If we meet at the Palliser Trail gravel parking lot at 4:30 pm, we should catch the sunset as well as the moonlight!

What to bring: grippers (and please put them on in the parking lot before we start so that people don’t get cold putting them on or waiting for others to put them on during the hike),  bear spray (a sign at the trailhead says a cougar has been spotted in the area), headlamp and spare batteries, a hot drink, and warm clothes.  Rundleview Ridge will be our turnaround point, and the plan is to enjoy our hot drink with a toast to the new year there.

Everyone is welcomed to join Jim and me and Linda and Dwaine at 282 Grizzly Crescent immediately following the hike, where there will be hearty snacks and holiday cheer.

To sign up for the hike, please email Maryann at mayim@telus.net.  The earliest sign-up time is 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 21
