Glaciated mountains and limestone walls surround clear Boom Lake. The trail climbs through pine, fir and spruce forest. Lunch will be on the avalanche boulders at the lake. After a series of switchbacks, the trail gives way to a narrow footpath to the lake.

The trail is quite wide for most of the way, allowing for physical distancing. Could be muddy so bring an extra pair of shoes for your car if you like. Bring a rod and a National Parks fishing license if you would like to try your luck catching a cutthroat trout!
