Restoring Hidden Lake with Shelley Humphries

Notes:

Hidden Lake lies on the route into Skoki Lodge in the Lake Louise area of Banff National Park. Parks Canada staff have been working to remove introduced brook trout into this lake which originally was home to native Westslope Cutthroat trout.

Aquatics Specialist Shelley Humphries will describe the effort and reasons behind this endeavour and the special ecology of our mountain lakes. Hope to see you there!

ps you can read more about this project in a recent article in the Outlook

Plus, the February meeting is our Annual General Meeting. In the past, we’ve prided ourselves in how quickly we try to run through this part of the evening. We know people come to see the program, but we want to stress that the election is very important to us – and we hope to you as well.

The Bow Valley Naturalists have been active in conservation and education of this special area we call home for over 50 years. We hope you value this and will come out to show your support and vote in the election of the next Board of Directors. You can vote in it if you are a current member – or consider becoming one at $5/ year. Even better, please think about joining our team of dedicated volunteers to keep this organization going. There are many ways to help us so let us know if you are interested in joining this coming year’s Board of Directors or as an informal volunteer.
