We will hike an extra loop below Montane Trail before hiking up to Montane and then take the minor side trail to Stoneworks Canyon. Finish at the new Silvertip Market for lunch.
Meet at the far west end of the Silvertip parking.
I just did a recon today (Tuesday) and I have two updates.
Most of the trails are well packed down and in great shape. To get to Stoneworks Canyon there is a short section of about 600m (1.2km return) that is just walking up the creek bed. Snowshoers have packed it down so it is quite doable in boots but does take a bit more effort. This section is near the end of the hike, so if anyone feels so inclined they can skip it and head straight for Silvertip.
I also found out that Stoney’s Pub is closed for the season. However, the new Silvertip Market is there and can handle our group. See the updated link below.
The canyon itself is very beautiful at the moment with the fresh snow and layer of frost on the rock walls.
