The new year’s moonlight hike is back again! So far there is no indication of any upcoming closures on the trail. Should this happen at the last minute, I shall change the destination of the hike to Grassi Lakes. We are promised “a waxing gibbous moon, approaching full”. Moonrise is at 2:27 pm and moonset at 7:33 am; sunset is scheduled for 4:45 pm. Hopefully there will be no clouds to obscure the moon.
Bring grippers, a headlamp, warm clothing, and a hot drink for toasting the new year at the viewpoint. The earliest sign up for this trip is 8:00 pm, December 24.
Everyone is invited to a nacho party at 282 Grizzly Crescent following the hike. Grizzly Crescent runs off Cougar Creek Drive, which in turn runs off Benchlands Trail. There will be lots of nachos as well as liquid sustenance, but if you wish to contribute any other goodies, that would be appreciated too.
