Notes:

Healthcare is undergoing monumental change around the world.  What we have considered healthcare systems are, in reality, illness care systems.  Understanding that health and wellness are mostly dependent on social factors has led governments around the world to merge healthcare and social care.  The social impact on health has also led to the realization that many players are involved in the creation of health and wellness:  governments, municipalities, the volunteer sector, primary care, businesses and even the community at large.  The refocusing of healthcare in Alberta provides an opportunity for the four new ministries to directly address issues related to their areas of responsibility rather than being overwhelmed by acute, illness care issues, as has been the historical case.
