Starting at the Upper Bankhead parking lot one meanders by some reminders that there used to be a mine here. “C-level” actually refers to the upper workings of the Bankhead Coal Mine.
The intent is to get to the cirque and then past the boulders and unto a spur trail that takes us up to a clearing with fine views of Lake Minnetonka and the Bow Valley, conditions permitting.
The trail is largely well defined, perhaps not quite as obvious for the final potion up to the clearing. There is no exposure. Persistent snow may limit how far we can get in the amphitheater.
Grippers are a good idea. Please bring water, lunch and bear spray.
